Question 1

Does a small team need DevOps?

Accepted Answer

What a team needs is not a job title but a repeatable deployment process. In small teams the biggest time sink is manual deploys and differences between environments. An automated build, test and deploy pipeline pays for itself from the first month.

Question 2

Can you migrate our existing system to the cloud?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Before migrating we map the current load and dependencies and plan the steps that require downtime. Migrations are usually staged, and we do not start one without a rollback plan.

Question 3

Can you reduce our cloud costs?

Accepted Answer

Most environments carry unused resources, wrongly sized instances and forgotten test environments. We start by making it visible where the spend actually goes, then reduce it through right-sizing, scaling policies and commitment options.

Question 4

Do we need Kubernetes?

Accepted Answer

Not every team does. For a team running a handful of services, managed container services carry far less operational overhead. Kubernetes starts to pay off as the number of services, teams and deployments grows.

Question 5

What happens during an outage?

Accepted Answer

Monitoring and alerting exist to catch problems before your users report them. For critical systems we define a support plan with on-call cover and a response time, and share a root cause analysis after the incident.

Question 6

How much does infrastructure work cost?

Accepted Answer

We publish no list price here, because the job varies enormously with what you already run: how many servers, which cloud, how much accumulated configuration. We start with a review, and scope and figure come out of it together. Anything quoted before that would be a guess.
